A new No. 1 Solution Provider is named at the CDN Top 100 show

TORONTO – Softchoice’s stay at the top of the CDN Top 100 Solution Provider list lasted only a year, as CDW Canada became the first subsidiary of a foreign company to win the No. 1 spot.

Softchoice was the top solution provider in Canada, based on revenue, for an unprecedented seven straight years until Compugen beat them in 2011. Last year Softchoice narrowly beat out CDW Canada, who placed second. With CDW Canada winning it means the CDN Top 100 has had a new No. 1 for three straight years.

CDW Canada, the direct market reseller based in Toronto reported a revenue range of $475 million to $500 million, which was one $25 million bracket range ahead of Softchoice. Compugen, CompuCom Canada, and OnX rounded out the top 5 all of which reported more than $300 million and higher in revenue.

Best performing newcomer was enterprise-level data centre solution provider Decisive Technologies based in Ottawa. The Rising Star winner went to Toronto-based solution provider EPAM Systems Inc.,  who soared 52 spots to claim the prize. It was the biggest leap in CDN Top 100 history.

For the third year running, CDN is awarding regional prizes. CPU Design Inc. of Quebec captured the award for best performing Central based solution provider. Triware Technologies Inc. of St. John’s N.F.L.D., won the Top Eastern Solution Provider of the Year award. And, Mainland Information Systems Ltd., for the second year in a row got the nod for the Top Western Solution Provider after a spectacular revenue producing year.

Best Small Business Solution Provider went again to Waterloo, Ont.-based FoxNet Inc. and the Best Mid-Market Solution Provider was won by Ottawa-based Stoneworks Technologies Inc. (SWTI).

The past two years have seen the Top 100 solution providers produce strong growth. In 2013, the Top 100 experienced good growth at two per cent, reaching the $6.5 billion dollar mark in annual Canadian revenue, according to tabulations from CDN and IDC Canada.

More than 200 people from solution provider organizations across Canada attended the annual Top 100 Solution Providers Event. The event was sponsored by Tech Data Canada, HP Canada, Dell Canada, StorageCraft and Canon Canada. It was held at the Paramount Conference and Event Venue in North Toronto.
