15 new Windows 8 hybrid notebooks and tablets

Microsoft’s Windows 8 launch on October 26 will bring a litany of new device announcements so fast you need a scorecard to keep up.

One of the big themes with this touch-centric Windows release is touch screens on everything including Ultrabooks, tablets with keyboard docks, or new all-in-one convertible PCs. Some critics aren’t buying the hybrid device craze that Windows 8 is inspiring, but if you ever wanted to a touch-enabled laptop, there’s never been a better time to buy.

It does not matter if you are a fan of hybrid devices are not. The fact of the matter is that Windows 8 has enabled the hardware vendors to be more innovative with its form factors and overall computing and it has given the marketplace more excitement in years. Dell, Samsung, Lenovo, Acer, Sony, Asus, HP, Toshiba, newcomer MSI with its Slider product and lets not forget Microsoft and its marketing turning Surface.

The only vendor not innovating for Windows 8 is Apple. But beyond Apple all these vendors will push each other. If you look at the Slider from MSI you can see that by innovating you can differentiate yourself in the marketplace. Plus the channel partners will be looking to do the same as they will provide hardware solutions for their customers. The MSI Slider is an 11.6-inch slider laptop running Sandy Bridge.
